As we moved into 2021 there was increasing concern surrounding vessel delays out of the west coast of America. This seems to have been one of the main factors causing issues with domestic trucking availability and is now having a knock-on effect with some of the east coast traffic.


Following the UK's transitional period post Brexit, there have been issues with goods moving by road between the EU and UK. This seems to be mainly documentation issues however it seems exporting to the EU is actually more difficult than importing to the UK.


It seems that a global rebalance of containers could be the solution to these current problems, but shipping lines seem to be taking a short term view, only interested in taking advantage of this current crisis to increase their margins, rather than providing actual solutions for their customers.
